BarbicideMaurice King, a chemistry teacher, invented Barbicide in 1947 in his Brooklyn apartment. His bathtub was filled with this translucent blue liquid as he mixed in one chemical after the other. ... In fact, Barbicide really meant, “to kill the barber.” It’s because he had scabs on his scalp, and the barber would hit them with the comb. So hence the name when he invented it. It’s a piece of Americana and is in the Smithsonian!
