Chip damage


The reduced damage a character takes from an attack while blocking. Generally an extremely small amount; in some games, normal moves do not cause this. The term refers to the visual effect of the player's life bar being "chipped" away, bit by bit. Also refers to a type of fighting that relies soley on causing such damage.

Chip damage


Chip damage is damage that is taken when you block special and supers (or distortions in the case of blazblue) obviously there are certain mechanics that may be able to negate chip damage (like the barrier guard in blazblue) however these only last for a brief period of time and need to be recharged before they can be used again.
